Bridges

Sunshine Skyway Bridge

English: Stephen's Grave This is the grave of ...

This is the grave of John Stephens who lived in Peter Tavey, John committed suicide around October 1762 and like most suicides at the time he was buried in unhallowed ground, suicides were usually buried at cross roads or at the farthest bounds of the parish. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Large water bodies need to be crossed, thus the bridges.  Besides providing means to go across, bridges are associated with suicides and homicides.I share here the bridges and details of some extremely lucky suicide survivors.

Over one million people die by suicide every year, making it the 10th leading cause of death worldwide. It is specifically a common cause of death among young adults. Rates are higher in men than in women, with males three to four times more likely to kill themselves than females.  There are an estimated 10 to 20 million non-fatal attempted suicides every year.

If the present trend of human endeavor and the current stigma being attached to failure or being a looser overtakes the stigma of suicide it  may result in suicides heading the list of cause of death.
