The earth hour.

Lamps

Copyright – Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

The two professors bickered incessantly. God knows why they had got   gotten married.

She had switched off all the lights sharp at 8.30 in spite of protestations from her husband – the Professor of Economics.

She was a Professor of Social Works and an ardent environmentalist.

PE – There is a blackout most of the times so this hardly makes sense (he lighted the lamp).

PSW – This is the least we can do about our deteriorating environment.

PE – Environmentalism is the current religion.

PSW – No, please not again.

PE – OK. , but it sure is sound politics and good business.

Thanks for the prompt  Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Salaam 🙂

  1. I like this too, although I probably would have liked it more if you had she said he said instead of the initials. But the twist of having them both have a valid point of view, and it all making economic sense, was a nice touch.

  2. I’m not going to take a side in this argument as I think they’ll have enough fuel to keep going for some time (pun intended.) One small thing–“had gotten married” not “got.”

  3. Electric out for an hour… if everyone did this, just once a week… think of the impact it would have for our world. Maybe, in that hour, we could learn how to talk to one another again. Maybe, just maybe, we could reconnect with our children/grandchildren, and teach them a little bit about how to live with respect. Just think about all the ways that an hour spent together with family/friends/community could change our world. Just, think about it….

I love arguments
