Ligo Haibun Challenge ~ Tribute

Prompt ~ Cartoon

This Haibun prompt gives me an opportunity to pay my tributes to RK Laxman.

‘Common Man’ is probably India’s most famous cartoon created by one of India’s best known cartoonist, Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Iyer or R K Laxman. His Common man cartoon series has been a huge success and has been a regular feature of Times of India, a leading English national daily in India for over 5 decades. The official name of the series was ‘You Said it.’ and it was started in the early 50′s. The cartoons have the Common man as the central character who manages to land himself in satirical situations. The theme is usually based around current events and represents the hope and trouble of the average Indian. The Common man is a silent witness in his cartoons yet, is the essence of his drawings.
