The Highgate Vampire was in high spirits. It had a wonderful dinner last night and then read a hilarious report about vampirism. It could not stop smirking and wanted to rile one of its famous neighbors. Also, it wanted to stretch its cramped legs.
HV finally reached Marx’s grave and greeted him. Karl was deep in his thoughts and did not bother to reply.
“Equitable distribution of wealth is such a quaint idea, especially in a world where a tiny elite of 85 richest individuals hold wealth equivalent to that owned by 3.5 billion of the poorest”, HV chided Karl.
Karl’s habitual scowl deepened.

Global inequality has increased to the extent that the €1.2 trillion combined wealth of the 85 richest people is equal to that of the poorest 3.5 billion — half of the world’s population — according to a new report from development charity Oxfam.
