A walk across Thames

Prompt –

2014-10-13 - BW Beacham

Finish the story that begins with:  The people waved at him from the bridge below.

The people waved at him from the bridge below – they cheered him across the waters.

It is a bloody miracle. One said.

True. I shall never forget this 25th day of June in the year 2011 of our Lord. Another replied.

It is just another illusion of Steve. A skeptical spectator commented.

What illusion ….. is the Thames an illusion or Steve gliding over the water an illusion?

Scared Steve remembered his teacher telling him – there is a prerequisite for aligning with water one should be able to breathe it. There is always an alternative – I shall just imagine a bridge and walk across it and he stepped into the Thames.

Oblivious of the crowd he made it half way across the stretch of the river opposite to the Houses of Parliament in London. The bridge disappeared as a River Police yanked him off the waters.

PS – This little piece of fiction is based on a true incidence.
