The Sunday Yarn ~ Cold as hell.

Prompt ~

Weird shaped icicles

The mortuary was really cold. Dom had brought me here. He was supposed to identify the corpse in shelf 6F.

Dom looked at the face of the corpse and his belongings but was not sure. The policeman accompanying us asked a few questions – noted down Dom’s answers and finally allowed him to go.

On our way out I noticed the icicles in one of the open shelves and pointed it out to Dom.

We walked out in silence. On our way back, we stopped at a bar to warm ourselves.

After a few sips ……
I – A wasted effort.
D- Hmm.
I – Another unidentified corpse.
D – If the corpse was in that open shelf – I would have been sure.
I – ???
D – I knew that man, when he was alive ….
I – What has it got to do with the open shelf?
D – In the fourth ring of the ninth-hell those who betray their benefactors, are frozen into the ice. They are contorted into all sorts of fantastical shapes as a part of their punishment.
