Once all the traffic on the bridge was in the other direction.
The bridge connected two ancient cities of Sumedhu and Kumedhu. The people of Sumedhu valued hard work, frugality, truthfulness and tranquility. The people of Kumedhu were violent, egoist and hedonic. There was a lot of migration from Kumedhu to Sumedhu.
In the second half of the twentieth century, people of Sumedhu realized the value of instant gratification. As the second decade of twenty first century got underway, the flow was reversed.
Mean while, white-ants gnawed away at the wooden pegs in the pillars of the old bridge.
