Wishing you all peace, love and happiness on this Thanksgiving Day and hoping the next year is much more peaceful.
Prompt ….

The great earthquake of 2022 AD split the mountain as if a cake had been cut in half. The deep and impenetrable gorge became the headquarters of the terrorists who were on the run from concerted action of many countries.
This was followed by a spurt of disruptive activities across the globe in 2030s. All technology failed to locate the terrorist base.
On April 13, 2036, the asteroid ‘Apophis’ struck the cleaved mountain. Surprisingly only one half of the mountain was pulverized. This was the half that sheltered the terrorists.
Today, in 2040 tourists swarm it for terror-memorabilia.

Thanks for the prompt Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. SHALOM.
Dear Yarnspinnerr,
Such is the nature of the tourist. Good one.
Salaam,
Rochelle
True. The curiosity of mankind knows no bounds.
Thanks & Shalom.
It sounds like nature has a way of putting it right.
That is the idea behind this one. Thanks Bjorn.
Terror memorabilia – chilling prospect.
Indeed ……..
Thanks for the read.
Can’t Apophis come a bit faster, please? And terror memorabilia–yes, that’s what tourists do.
Astronomers predicted the date. May be NASA could hasten it up ………
Thank you.
Makes one think, doesn’t it?
Thank you.
The hole-in-the-mountain gang got pulverized. What are the odds? I like them.
I wonder what type of memorabilia they’ll sell at the gift shop?
Plastic machine guns, pseudo remotes, false bombs …… 🙂
Thank you.
I certainly wouldn’t want terror memorabilia, but I can imagine some would.
Most of us would not want it …….. today; but once terrorism is history – ………
Thank you.
Mother nature allowing equilibrium. Tourists just enjoying the sights? Memorabilia… I wonder what is in this gift shop???
Unwashed stinking monkey caps, masks, rusted machine guns, code books ……..
Thank you.
Really well told futuristic story. Mother nature is awesome or is it God? 🙂
I would subscribe to Mother Nature.
Thanks for the interest.
ha go way to frame the our human ways and the tendency for nature to totally disregard our musings and addictions.
Thanks for the read.
It sounds like that place is marked on Nature’s map for distruction. I’m surprised the police didn’t move in and seal that place off as a crime scene. Maybe it was for a while. Good creative sci-fi, Yarnspinnerr. Well done. 🙂 — Suzane
Thank you
The lone cliff and the gorge did not merit attention at that time.
“Terror memorabilia” – interesting concept – shows us humans will collect just about anything for novelty. Wish all items of terrorism becomes useless memorabilia. Good one.
Thank you friend.
