In the hollow Lotos-land to live and lie reclined
On the hills like Gods together, careless of mankind.
The little grass patch with a bench was an oasis. Usually, there was an unending queue for the benches here. Today, there was no scuffling of the feet across the tarmac just before the greenery.
Like all days a crowd of lotus eaters had gathered but had soon dissipated. The tea shop across the road was open but it looked gloomy. The tea boys that rushed to and fro seemed lost and forlorn. Others vending a variety of food and spicy snacks were simply gossiping.
Amazingly the regulars came, saw and walked away. None enquired the reason for this desolation.
A few elderly people walked in ………..
It is that new corporator!
Who else would waste money painting the benches here with slow drying paint?
