The flip side of policy

Prompt  ….

This week’s photo prompt is provided by TJ Paris. Thank you TJ!

Chung saw the lighted red lamp inscribed with ‘Spring Festival’ as he entered his house. It was July and the lantern festival was long over.

Each month the lamp was kept lighted for a week that contained the fertility window of Chung’s wife as advised by the local health visitor.

It was for keeping away the dreaded child eating beast from his house. The tradition started after the disappearance of all latex articles from the medical stores. The one child policy of the rulers had been blamed for the acute shortage condoms.

We cannot fight the rulers Chung thought.
