Organization for Intergalactic Strategy and Development has identified the sewing machine as a technology that was responsible for retrogressive transition of the intelligent life forms in Earth.

The evolution went awry after the invention of sewing-machine because it promoted exploitation of human labor that chiefly affected the economically weak and socially deprived sections of the society. It further discriminated between the sexes and females were the chief victims – affecting the health and upbringing of the future generations.

It was decided that steps would be taken to turn the clock back and put the evolution of human race on right track.

  1. Poor poor sewing machine the aliens got it wrong, it’s the capitalist work masters and their sweet shop mangers who need retuning. 🙂

  2. I started off with my story with the thought: “What if all humans decided to not wear clothes?” and was amazed to realize how clothes have complicated our social and economic lives.

Great story. There was clearly a wrong turn somewhere.

    • I also wanted to develop the same theme and was surprised that tailoring was not mentioned by Dua Khety in ‘satire of trades’. It may be coz tailors in olden times were master crafts men and artists. The reason lies in the simple attire of common people.

Thanks for the read and the ‘yes’ vote. 🙂

    • The aliens are more advanced as they migrated from this planet before the great flood and survived on harsh planets through their wisdom and hard work. (Hope to develop this theme one day)
They use clothing that is made through 3D printing.

      Thank you. 🙂

      • I say so because my Mom didn’t have a lot of $ growing up. Her family was poorer. When she received family allowance (her and her sister) they bought fabric and sewed their clothes (except blue jeans). They both learned how to sew in home economics class in junior high school.

My Mom was able to sew clothes in a fabric she liked and clothes that were sewn for her shape of body or she could alter blue jeans which had a gaping waist. She sewed her own wedding dress and even sewed for us when we were little kids and my parents didn’t both work yet. It saved her a lot of $ she didn’t have.

I know it’s a story lol. But this is what I’d say to those aliens about why a sewing machine was a good thing.

      • True. Even I was brought up on a lot of home sewn garments. Individually it helped a lot of weak and deprived people to survive. It is the positive side of the technology. 🙂

I love arguments
