Regret – No fiction here.

The maze of barbed wire and grilled pathways that lead to the disputed Ram-Janmbhoomi (~birth place) site is an anticlimax to the fabled  Ayodhya visit.

The structure that houses five statues of Ram, Sita, Laxman, Bharat and Shatrughan  is a plain simple cloth tent today.

There is no doubt in the minds of the locals that the spot is indeed where Ram was born. A grand Ram-temple is a desire of the majority. However, I am sure that a Ram-temple is possible only with mutual consensus – simply because Sri Ram is   Maryada Purushottam*.

*One who respects the existing traditions (Maryada) of his time.
A background to this is available here.

Thanks for the prompt Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. SHALOM.

  1. My feelings about the character of Ram in the Ramayana is a bit controversial. Let’s just say shedding the blood of humans in this present day for a temple is totally unnecessary.
I like how you linked this picture to the topic of the religious conflict.
