Prompt ….
PHOTO PROMPT © Fatima Fakier Deria
Tim had returned from the famous ghost tour of Venice as the sun was rising. He was still wondering about the truth of the fantastic tales he had heard when he espied the barge unloading its ware from the window. He detected a ghostly figure lurching among the crates.
Meanwhile the waiter brought his breakfast ….
Tim addressed the waiter – Come here and tell me if you can see the ghost among the crates on that barge?
The waiter smiled and informed – He is the supervisor of the covert China-made Murano glass trade in Venice, Sir!

Thanks a lot.
Hmmm… Mine does have a sticker (was a gift) and does have bubbles in the glass so… I’ll choose to believe it’s the real thing!
What if the waiter is a ghost? – For a moment I thought that!
Cool story 🙂
My Story- I Spy You – Anita
Thank you for dropping in. 🙂
A person made of glass… an interesting person, indeed. perfect for spying, methinks.
Thank you 🙂
Covert glass making? What will happen next? Nice tale
No, just covert trade in fake Murano glass. Thank you so much.
Ah, I see. Interesting. Well, anything that costs money will be faked!
That’s it, I’m taking the piece I purchased back to Venice!

I am sure you checked it thoroughly and ensured that it is not a fake before purchasing it. Thanks for the read.
No ghosts then, just a man trying to hide in the shadows. An intriguing story that can be read many ways I think. Like Anita I thought the waiter might too be a ghost on my first read.
Besides many attractions of Venice – ghosts and Murano glass fascinate many tourists.
While ghosts are not really tangible, even the glass you buy may also be a fake.
The common factor being ones perception.
Thanks for the read and your interest.
I hope this story is total fiction 🙂 Clever take.
Just a garnish of truth. Thank you.
Mine was a gift made before the eyes of the giver and brought home in triumph – but with great care.
I am sure it is genuine. Thanks for the read and sharing your thoughts,
Oh! Interesting! I had no idea about Murano glass!
Glad this interested you. Thanks.
Aha more ghosts! I love it
🙂
Thank you.
Even I thought for a moment the waiter was a ghost – nicely crafted and layered story.
Thank you so much.
My fantasy of having a Murano piece of glas are squelched. SO sad …
Good write…
Isadora 😎
I truly wish you get the real thing soon. Thank you so much.
I wouldn’t know how to tell if my murano glass watch is real. Besides the certificate it came with, but even that could be fake. I loved that you weaved the glass tradition of Venice into your tale.
I am sure it is the genuine thing. Glad you liked this tale. Thank you so much.
I thought I had made a good decision while buying Murano from a well-known shop. I remember the guy there asked me specifically not to buy anything from the vendors (the shops in the narrow alleys who sell counterfeit glasses). But now, after reading your story, I am not very sure about my decision 🙂
The well known outlets have their reputation to consider – so it has to be the real thing,
Thanks for the read and the feedback.
Oh, nice ending! I was convinced he was seeing a ghost 🙂
That is what I was aiming for. 🙂
Thank you so much
I like the inventive and unexpected twist at the end of your story – so unexpected. Well done.
So glad. Thanks a lot.
Very, very interesting story. Great twist.
Glad it interested you. Thank you.
