PHOTO PROMPT – @Melanie Greenwood

It has now come to the last battle. Our cosmic cousins must destroy those from darker planets once and for all.

In the event of a victory by the sun-less – the cousins will lose their planets and take shelter on earth ….. a reversion of the original exodus. The implications are mind boggling.

For the first time in cosmic history humans will play host to a plane-full (disguised UFO) of cousins and will then have to face the onslaught of their sun-less enemies.

‘May be they are the mythical non-earthly deities that we worship’, Dom said reading my thoughts.

Dom’s ingenuity

Prompt –

© 2015, Barbara W. Beacham

Finish the story begins with: “Zeus was not having a good day and he made sure everyone knew it.”

Zeus was not having a good day and he made sure everyone knew it.

The scorching day time temperatures hovering around 45 – 50C had brought all life to a staggering halt. ‘Climate change’ and ‘global warming’ proved to be an umbrella for governments across borders. People prayed to their Gods without any respite.

Dom had other ideas. He broke the statue of Zeus atop a hill. The bright sun was hidden behind a cover of dense clouds and Zeus hurled thunderbolts at earth.

Dom and his friends danced in the rain that followed.

The Sunday Yarn ~ The Pewter Piece

Welcome back Al.

Prompt ~

Pewter dragon ornament

*

Quirky statues attracted Dom just like jiggery attracted bees. There was almost a supernatural attraction between the two. Hence it was no wonder that Dom found the pewter piece in a shabby studio downtown.
The sculptor’s eyes twinkled as he smelled a sale – this is a solitary piece for the connoisseur. I used the mold only for this piece here.
D – Well what is it?
S – It is a dragon teaching its son.
D – What type of dragon is this?
S – A dragon is a dragon … what do you mean by type?
D – Wyvern, ddraig-goch, smok, loong, nag, gyo; WHAT ?
S – It is just a dragon!
D – What about the little object?
S – Dragon’s son.
D – Dragons don’t have sons; they have eggs!
S – Well you are such a know-all; tell me what is it?
D – It is an owl!
S – Why should a dragon swoop on an owl; it is just a little morsel?
D – The owl is rebuking him.
S – Why?
D – To mend it’s ways … fire and fury only results in extinction.
S – How do you know?
D – I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.

Dom had been on interstellar travel and was showing me his tour photographs. I was surprised to find the registration plate photograph in this lot and moved on to the next – this one showed a car museum of sorts.

These do not belong here, Dom.

No, these too are from a planet at the other end of our galaxy.

Looks like another planet having a romance with cars. It must be quite like earth.

No. They consider the car as the work of devil and root of all problems on earth.

Really …….

They have organic-sapiens government that follows the principle that humans need to develop the immense potential that is vested in their bodies and must live without any assistance from material technology.

I am sure they are still in the dark ages.

No. In fact they are actually much ahead of us. They have different museums dedicated to evil technologies from the sick planets in the cosmos. They are live warnings for their citizens.

But how did they collect these if they shun technology?

Psychic-telekinesis and teleportation forms the core of school education there and it leads to a state of graceful development of the society.

The club-secretary’s loud voice broke my reverie as I sat alone in the lounge contemplating this week’s prompt.

CS – You cannot use the club parking for agricultural-machinery.
Dom – It is a new sedan – I just purchased.
CS – Why the back-hoe and shovel?
Dom – That is for the agricultural subsidy. It cost me just half as compared to one without hoe and shovel.
CS – So you shall use that sedan-tractor?
Dom – Just, for today.
CS -??????
Dom – I shall leave it at designated workshop tonight. It will be delivered to me tomorrow evening as a normal sedan.
CS – 🙂

Agricultural subsidy is a highly controversial and emotive issue. Its misuse is globally prevalent. In case you are interested – please follow the links below –

The two equators!

Prompt –

2014-10-20 - BW Beacham

Finish the story begins with:   Do you remember that old saying, “X marks the spot?”

Do you remember that old saying, “X marks the spot?” I asked Dom.
D – Why ?
I pointed at the sky.
D – Oh!
I – Any idea, what is it?
D – I think it is the center of the cosmos!
I –  How do you know.
D – It is an intersection of the earthly and celestial equators.
I – A celestial equator is a projection of the terrestrial equator  into space.
D – The two equator form that ‘X’ which is the center of the space.
I – The two equators are parallel.
D – A little error in calculation of physicists  that has placed it 180 degrees wrong.
I – Well, very controversial ……….. any ways what does it portend?
D – A new X-ray star that shall become a black hole soon and eat up all the harmful celestial radiations that poses a hazard to earthlings.
I just gawked at him.

Sir Eat-one!

AND/ OR
There it was, hidden in alphabetical order ~ Rita Holt

.

My muse has deserted me – I hope it is just a temporary sulk. The chair reminds me of political scurry to get a ministry or the game of musical-chair I am forced to participate in the annual sports day at my son’s school. On concentrating harder the tales of ‘singhasan battisee’ haunt me.

The two prompts together make me imagine the alphabets jumping from one chair to other like very young children who have never sat on upholstered box-spring chairs.

At my wits end I sought Dom’s help.

I – Who is Rita Holt, Dom?
D –  Ask Google Baba.
I – Google Baba is also not sure.
D – Well what did she do?
I – Seems she found something hidden in the alphabet.
D – She may very well have.
I – What could she be referring to?
D– Occasionally unpronounceable vowels hide themselves in alphabets (scratches his day-old-growth on his chin).
I – That is not very helpful.
D – Highly qualified people with petty achievements and large egos hide their real names between English alphabets.
I – That is also very well known. I thought you will be able to give some real clue.
D – In an extraordinary discovery, a British academic claims to have uncovered a series of secret messages hidden in the Plato’s writings.*
I – That is true for most of the ancient texts. Some or the other academic has found hidden messages and meanings in all text that is historic or prehistoric.
D – The spies have done an excellent job of hiding messages in alphabetical texts.
I – It is still very ambiguous and is not of much use to me.
D – What exactly are you looking for?
I – An idea for a story hidden in the alphabet & sitting on an ornate chair.
D – Oh you looking for ETAON RASHID
I – Rashid Who?
D – Eat-one and now don’t ask why not two! (He walked away).

Just tea for two
And two for tea
Just me for you
And you for me…

Dom crooned to himself.

I had come looking for my old-friend as we rarely met these days; and Dom avoided all electronic communication like plague. He hated sterile conversations.

As always we headed for the Imperial – a cup of tea was must for yakking.

I poured my tea and then picked up the paper-tube of sugar. It felt odd and then I read………

Waiter, I shouted and Dom guffawed.

Just tea for two
And two for tea
Sugar for him
a spoon for me.

Of idols!

It so happened that Dom and SC (Supreme Consciousness) met at the foot of this statue of the long-dead-king.

Good day Sir, said Dom

Oh, Dom – what are you up to today?

Just a few stray thoughts that you are well aware of, Sir!

Smiles. I know. More doubts about my best creation.

Well Sir, I wonder how long more …….

You are referring to these historical icons.

Yes, these old kings and leaders long gone; some languishing in storage others weather-beaten.

Impatient Dom, SC teased.

May be you like being idolized in  your many forms.

Adieu Dom.
