Finish the story begins with: “The old typewriter had a mind of its own”
The old typewriter had a mind of its own – the man was unhappily aware of its power.
He made his living writing crime-fiction for pulp magazines. He typed the stories and often sent them in without a second look. He built upon events around him and garnished them with murder, robbery and rape.
One day he had to wait for the publisher; and while waiting started flipping through the pages of a recently published magazine …… Melissa was being raped by the villainous Duke. He was sure it had been Melissa’s friend who had been raped. Previous editions had also been tampered.
The lady whom he had characterized as Melissa had actually been raped. This was no coincidence – the robbery at the jeweler (originally a bank) had actually taken place ……… on and on.
He sold the typewriter to Jack ……. Jack the ripper.
