The Anniversary

Prompt  ….

Aron warmed a Totino’s Pizza (bread crusted with cheesy intentions), poured a glass of Urban Platter (red wine salad dressing) and sat down on the floor for his dinner. He looked at the watch he had gifted to Betty and nostalgia flooded his throat – it tasted like bile.

He sat reminiscing the last time he had such a meal.  He had lived on similar food for a year …… till Betty decided to walk out of his life exactly a year ago.

The anniversary should be a factual reminder of those days ….. he thought.

Fading senses!

Old Jacque stops at each shop to greet his friends. This was his beat for 20 years – laurels and success.

He looked in to the thrift shop. He could not see Mr. Govie the owner.

A shopper in the corner distracts him. A nosy, whiny huff – expressing irritation greeted him.  He saw the lone lady in white. It is not a tired mom dragging her kids, nor a vendor whose wares do not sell.

Is she up to some mischief – the old instincts come alive?

Senses delude but the perception kicks in and he walks away shaking his head.
